Hazards of Passive Smoking

It is bad enough that people smoke and ruin their health. It is worse that people who don’t smoke get to bear the brunt as well. Passive smoking causes a number of health risks and those are in no way negligible. The minor ailments include nausea, headaches, dizziness, sore throat, shortness of breath and also cause irritation to the eyes.

Exposure to cigarette smoke can increase the risk of lung cancer and heart ailments too. It also brings about asthmatic attacks in children and causes decreased lung function in developing lungs of babies. Passive smoking can also cause cancer as tobacco smoke contains at least forty carcinogens. It can also cause heart attacks and people who already suffer from respiratory diseases run the risk of developing irritations in their lower and upper respiratory tracts.

Hence people are advised to stay away from tobacco smoke and smokers are advised not to smoke in public areas or in places where the non-smokers and children get exposed to the smoke.
