They are always looking for ways to get rid of them and make their skins more balanced and in the process they end up falling victims to products that never work or even worse make it worse. One of the best ways to tackle skin spots is to first understand what they are.

Melanin is the substance in our bodies that gives us color. The more melanin a person has in their skin, the more there will be darker shades of color on the surface. Skin spots occur when there is a lot of concentration of melanin on different areas of the skin than others. This process causes the skin to have an unbalanced tone. There are many products that are meant to get rid of this problem but it is always wise to consult your dermatologist before you take any action.

Age spots are primarily caused due to aging and UV radiation from the sun. As it is pretty evident that aging cannot be stopped, the best way to prevent and clear age spots would be to moderate the level of sun exposure on the skin by wearing proper clothing, applying sunscreen and if possible avoiding the sun during its most damaging hours.

The moderation part, however, deals with fading of age spots. Other alternatives, being there can help in completely clearing the spots.

Laser treatment is a sure fire option, however it can prove to be quite expensive. Chemical creams, such as Tretinoin are another alternative with their downside being harmful side effects on prolonged use.

Natural substances such as lemon juice, castor oil, Aloe Vera gel etc. are the way to go when it comes to getting rid of the age spots without experiencing any side-effects. However, barring the laser treatment all other methods require patience as prominent changes only begin to occur upon the passage of a certain amount of time.
